Yes. There’s a character in the book named Helmholtz Watson.

I don’t think Helmholtz is a first name in reality though, but I’ve seen worse.

I used to have a teacher named Dethleff Dethleffsen, so I suppose anything is possible.

I have seen the picture before, but it wasn’t until now that I figured out the Helmholtz double entendre.

Helmholtz resonation is a way to enhance certain frequencies by blowing air into a cavity shaped to resonate with the desirable frequencies, named after German scientist Hermann von Helmholtz.

Helm means helmet in German. Holtz means wood in German (nice name: wooden helmet?) but in most other languages it resembles the word “hold” making this a helmet held Helmholtz resonator. Say it fast.

“Thanks in advance” has changed meaning.

It used to mean: “I appreciate your effort into this, no reply needed”.

It now means :“Fuck you if you don’t do this, and I expect this done without complaint.”

  • All non-stock companies which is the majority of all companies. That’s the problem. When a company applies for a stock market registration, it means that they’re selling off control and profit sharing of the company in order to gain investments to expand.

All companies start with a single or two owners. The transition from owning everything to including others won’t happen if it means giving up to the majority of control, whether that’s 50% or 5/95%. That’s why many companies get stuck on 51%. It only ever comes over 50% when someone dies or makes a mature decision of letting others control “their” company.

I have discussed the need for me to nap after work with my wife… At first she didn’t understand why I should skip the homely duties,.but after explaining my drinking habits just to stay awake, and her own schedule and habits looking the same, we have agreed that we all need a fucking nap. Just 40+ y/o things…
