Bobby Petrino has agreed to become the next offensive coordinator at Arkansas, and the two sides are finalizing the deal, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The hiring of Petrino is expected to require presidential approval, as he was fired for cause during his last stint there.

Man, some schools just never learn.

In the case of Bobby Petrino, this Maya Angelou quote comes to mind: “When people show you who they are, believe them.”

“ Man, some schools just never learn. “

This will always be what I see when I hear his name.

Oh, and for anyone who might stumble across this thread and not know exactly what the relevance of that picture is, it was taken at the news conference following his motorcycle wreck.

You know, the wreck he had when leaving his wife and family at home and going for a ride with his much younger blonde mistress on the back. When his security detail showed up, Petrino tried to pressure the guy into saying that he was alone on the bike. Petrino stood before the University of Arkansas president and claimed he was alone on the bike. And at that very news conference where the picture was taken, he claimed in front of the media that he was alone on the bike. The mistress that he desperately wanted to keep quiet about? He not only wanted to keep his marital impropriety a secret, but it also turns out that he had hired her for a high paying position with the team - player development coordinator - after they had become romantically involved. A HUGE ethical violation, which is one of the reasons he was “fired with cause” and now needs the school president’s approval before he can return.

Louisville took him back after he, well I’m just going to quote wiki

“On January 7, 2007, less than six months after signing the 10-year contract above, it was announced Petrino had accepted the head coaching position for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.”

      And they took him back.

And don’t forget that he stood in front of Arthur Blank and told Blank that he wasn’t looking for a job, he was the Atlanta Falcons head coach. Before the end of the week, he had sneaked off during the night to become the Arkansas head coach after the 13th game, not even completing an entire season. He never addressed the team, leaving them a note taped to their lockers. He told the coaches he would talk with them at a later time, a time that never came. Former Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was Petrino’s defensive coordinator for those 13 games. In 2010 Zimmer was asked in an interview about Petrino, and he didn’t hold back, calling him a “coward”, and my personal favorite, a “gutless bastard”.
