I’ve never understood places like Texas or Alberta that always vote the same out of some sort of team like mentality.
Why would any party, even the one you support, offer you anything if they don’t risk losing your votes? The other party has nothing to gain by helping you, and your party has nothing to lose by ignoring you.
Democracy needs to be adversarial where the parties in power constantly fear you’ll flip on them and throw them to the wolves.

Pretty sure that’s precisely why the parties push wedge issues.
