A Florida school board paused a plan for a chaplain program after receiving First Amendment concerns — and interest from The Satanic Temple.

Fast-forward nearly four months, and the school board voted 3-2 to take the policy out […] “I need more time to make a decision,” said Heather Kahoun, the board chair. “I haven’t had an opportunity to think about these things, to think about the implications regarding the First Amendment, regarding federal litigation that we could receive if we were to approve this as it is today.”

Someone this stupid shouldn’t be on the school board. All of these issues were raised during the initial fight over the bill, it’s for months since the bill was signed, and now she suddenly needs more time to think though the implications? Idiot.

Or she’s lying because she can’t say, “only Christian ministers are allowed”

She’s not stupid, she’s backpedaling because she didn’t think the Satanists would actually roll out.

The thing about Christians is that they’re so certain they’re right, it never occurs to them that some people don’t believe as they do. Hell, look how some of them view atheists. We really do believe in capital G God, we’re just in rebellion.

They’re literally unable to comprehend the idea of “no god”, unable to comprehend that any right-minded person would be offended by religion in schools. Notice how they have to enter a purpose-built echo chamber every Sunday to keep their faith shored up?

TST is doing the lord’s work b/c the christofascists have lost the plot.

It’s not just boring, it’s a lifetime of anxiety and self hatred for breaking any number of arbitrary rules.

So how long before these folks realize that TST is going to do shit like this every time so they probably should just fucking stop trying to shove their religion down our throats…?

Like, this isn’t new, TST have been doing shit like this for decades and the religious wrong still haven’t figured it out?

Pathetic. And such a waste of time, effort, and energy.

They know, they don’t care. It’s all virtue signaling. All their base sees is that the politicians are trying to force Christianity on people and the godless heathens are stopping them. Clearly they need to vote more Republicans into office.

Oh they know. Doesn’t stop them from trying anyway, as they love to shove their religion down little kids throats.

True, however some of them, especially rural ones, are so insular that it doesn’t even occur to them that this is possible until it bonks them on the nose.

Besides the obvious intent of forcing their beliefs on vulnerable and unsuspecting children, I haven’t seen anyone discuss that these are volunteers and as far as I know they are not mandatory reporters.

Counselors who work within the schools are licensed and are mandatory reporters. Having some guy who’s been telling everyone they are going to hell every weekend for the last 30 years come talk to Suzy about her depression is not going to help anyone.
