I think this is already happening. I’ve seen many people saying that lemmy allows them to actually feel like their thoughts are being heard and not just shouting into the void.
Personally I feel like I’ve seen many more even tempered responses here than the other place, even when people disagree. Of course there’s the odd nasty response but that seems to get bulldozed by others telling them to be better, which is nice.
Are you using an app? I’m using Connect for Lemmy and blocking instances is a feature.
Thankfully this isn’t a problem for my parents who are in their 70s. My dad worked in IT so he’s always been tech savvy and he keeps my mom up to date. Mostly her only pitfall is using too many emojis. Smartphones were not really a problem when my grandparents were around, but they had issues with the cable box so my parents labelled the remote with which buttons to push and covered the rest of the irrelevant ones.
I do have plenty of coworkers who don’t get technology, even younger ones. Their biggest problem is that they don’t want to understand. Some just lack the ability to problem solve. For those, I have written out explicit instructions on how to get from point A to point B. They don’t need to understand it I guess.
Not exactly a double take, but sometimes when I play a lot of Assassin’s Creed I start subconsciously looking for good handholds on buildings in real life.
The article says the embryo models have a 99% failure rate, and also that it would be impossible to achieve pregnancy with it. Sounds like the process to coax the cells to form an embryo and miscellaneous parts takes too long.
