You can’t really compare budgets to older films due to inflation but I get the point that the budget does seem excessive.
A middle-aged nerd from the UK. I like films and write about them, sometimes for Film Stories or my blog.
Have a great day.

This sounds great!
Has somebody just watched Linus Tech Tips 😁? They’ve recently done two videos where they pull apart scenes likes this.
Tech Experts React to Bad & Great Tech in Movies

Has anyone watched Hackers? 😆
As a young computer nerd, the Bill Gates / Windows 98 bit had me in stitches.
How did they ignore time travel? Cruise only time travels when he dies and he stopped doing that about halfway through.
A great film and it’s a shame a sequel never materialised. We did however get this reunion for a charity auction in 2017.
Hooray, more pop culture references!
I watched the original but during the big end battle, because it was all underwater, I wasn’t sure who was doing what. After that, didn’t take need to see the sequel.
I was being a bit tongue in cheek. GAME took over EB in the UK. I don’t think they’re any dedicated gaming shops anymore, just independents.
Then basically there’s no point in this shop existing anymore. They’re basically toy stores now.
I occasionally look in Game but can’t remember the last time I actually bought anything. It would’ve been a pre-owned title anyway.
Is Electronics Boutique still going? 😁
Some of the voters are a bit scary too. I keep hearing a clip from LBC where some asks Starmer if he would’ve been in Corbyn’s cabinet.
Starmer kicked Corbyn out. That’s years ago. Why are you still trying to link the two people still now.
Finally, who are the 20% that would still vote Tory? Rich business people with no ethics?
I’m not sure where to implement it, but something featuring Kryten.
“Go to alert!” “Are you absolutely sure, sir? It does mean changing the bulb!”
Or failing that, maybe an error that is contained in a quoted Space Core Directive?
1989, the gold and black Batman logo was everywhere. It was the film that made me a Batman fan as well. Also, my grandfather misread the poster and thought it was a mouth with weird gold teeth. 😁
If you want to go really in depth, check out the podcast, “BEST MOVIES NEVER MADE” by Stephen Scarlata & Josh Miller. In particular this episode which is the first part of four where they run through all the scripts they could find which lead up to the 1989 final film.
With regard to breaking even, I was just recalling what I found on a small article about the film. So who knows what it would really need to break even? Double sounds more realistic though.
Del Toro was incredibly close to shooting an adaptation of At The Mountains of Madness in 2011, when Universal shut the project down. They decided they weren’t going to risk a $150m budget on an R rated for film which would probably need about $500m to break even.
A couple of years ago Del Toro shared a thirty second clip of pre-viz by Industrial Light and Magic. Another film to add to list of what couldn’t been.
Production companies must hate drones! 😆
Industrial Light & Magic kept their original locations a secret, as they didn’t want Star Wars fans rummaging through their trash for bits of models.
Thank you! I was worried for a second as to why it was down.
Apparently my area will get a lean Labour win. I bloody hope so, my Tory MP is useless. Aren’t they all?
Well, I’ll add them to my library. I can say that much about them. 😁
