For an eclectic viewer like me I am the complete opposite of you; being tracked and remembered by YouTube would be miserable. I arrive at a fresh home page that shows only a search bar every time I go there. (There are no video thumbnails) I have to stop and think about what I want to watch. I click on a video after searching, reload the page to skip the ad, unmute and away I go. Any creator I want to remember I’ll take a screen shot and then copy and paste their channel name to notes.

I mean, yeah, trans folk being brigaded makes sense - I’m surprised and disappointed that it’s a major deciding factor on an area of the web like Lemmy which is generally (at least) a bit more accepting. Roughly how big/long is a block in US cities? It’s a measurement you guys use as your cities are so young and were planned out on grids. Where I’m from our cities are pretty chaotic and weirdly shaped as they grew organically through the centuries.

I’m not suggesting for one second that the mother would have a negative care experience. I’m just stating the obvious that some people would no longer do those extra little things. I notice in some of the care homes I go to that some residents are called by name and some are referred to by room number. All of them have their needs met - just some are treated more compassionately and others are treated only professionally.

As with almost any type of repetitive training the key gain is to reduce / eliminate thinking time to maximise reaction time. Whether that be fire training, first aid or a body motion the principal is the same. The difference between trying to remember versus simply knowing.
