I am guessing that graphical install and good audio stack were probably the biggest non-starters for wider adoption.
They might be a good starting point for companies wishing to build UNIX compatible systems so they can later plug in oracle or IBM stuff. But not sure how popular this route is nowadays.
How is BSD doing in general? I thought the projects were in decline lately.
