After years of complaints about under-funding, the Canadian government announced plans for a big rise in spending on research and education – including new investments in artificial intelligence, research infrastructure and student grants.
But the increase in the capital gains tax for realized gains above $250k is going to push all of the researchers and engineers out of the country, eh! Big brain drain happening!
I have a fairly cushy IT job, and I don’t see many jobs that aren’t managerial that the tax would affect.
Enough to the point of it causing a brain drain, which wouldn’t already have happened due to other reasons.
