Usually I just use a Swisstech backup but was wondering if there was a better option
Tomtoc sling bag for Steamdeck
https://www.amazon.com/Carrying-Accessories-Protective-Lightweight-nintendo-wii/dp/B09ZYFV1GD
I’m very happy with this bag. I fit the deck, the charger it came with, a USBC hub with HDMI out, a 10ft HDMI cable, an Anker battery pack, 2 more charging cables, a 5g LTE hotspot, a trifold keyboard/mouse, and an old cellphone.
Over-sized cross body bags work well.
I have one of these:
Leaper Canvas Messenger Bag Anti-Theft Crossbody Bags Sling Bag with USB Black, XL
I’ve never personally been a fan of those types of buckles
There are other styles of cross body bags, you just have to find one big enough for the deck. :)
What does cross body bag mean exactly
Backpacks have two straps, one goes over each shoulder.
A cross body bag has one strap and it slings from one shoulder to the opposite hip, or it can hang in front or back.
Ah, I usually just called them laptop bags
Bigger ones can fit a laptop, super big ones are also called messenger bags.
Ah right I’ve heard that term before
I’ve read some stuff about Jsaux being huge douchebags, so, you may need to make an ethical choice, but I’ve been very satisfied with this bag
I already have the jsaux case and battery pack, as long as a product works I couldn’t care less how they are personally or politically.
Typically I use an empty camelback backpack without the bladder, but it doesn’t fit my keyboard at the same time. It fits the charger and the deck. Or alternatively, it fits my 4 controllers, stand, and keyboard as an auxiliary bag and I keep the SD in its case along with it.
I was coming here with the same exact suggestion. I had an old CamelBak-like bag that was never getting used. A little snip snip here and cut cut there and that shit is a perfect Steam Deck bag. I even added a bit of padding in the bottom of the bag to help protect a little more.
I bought a mini kadet 5 liter sling bag from chrome industries. It’s a decent quality bag.
What’s chrome industries
Just the name of the company that sells it.
I have heard good things about the LTT Backpack, I watched a stream where Linus talked about improvements they did to the backpack to make the Steamdeck fit.
Here is a review I found where someone uses it for laptop and Steamdeck https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/zxcafh/ltt_backpack_long_format_review/
(Yes I know it’s on reddit, but I couldn’t find a review on lemmy, maybe you will be the first if you buy one 😉)
$250 for a backpack??
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory If one have the money to buy one backpack that lasts 10 years you save money by not buying a new cheap backpack every other year 🤷
Currently I’m using a Swisstech backpack, is his that good?
I can’t say for sure since I have not used it myself. But I have followed the progress from his first announcements through a lot of improvements that took a looong time since he used every revision himself (with his own Steamdeck and everything else he needs for work).
But I do intend on buying one when I have the money and I don’t even own a Steamdeck, I just want it for work :) I do know he made a lot of improvements like reinforcements to the bottom so it would last longer then other bags.
Reddit still works fine for me
