I have a pax3 that is starting to show it’s age. The battery is not holding it’s charge that well and I’m sure the tech has improved a lot over the years. I was looking at a crafty or mighty+ but wanted to see if there was something else comparable for a little cheaper. I would like to keep it under 300, but can spend some more if it’s worth it.

Unconventional but I highly recommend the combo of dynavap + ispire wand. Should be under your price and:
- dynavaps are basically indestructible and easy to clean, heated by any source, like a lighter
- the ispire wand is an induction heater, which is better than normal thermal, and it has standard replaceable (and USB chargeable) batteries. So you in theory never need to buy a new device
I forgot to mention I already have a dynavap M with a fmj. I think I need a new cap for it since it seems like it is clicking a little before it’s ready. Ive been using a triple flame torch lighter but the ispire wand has always interested me.
My wife really doesn’t like it, so that’s why I was looking for a replacement to the pax we share.
Yeah the caps wear out after a few years but the ispire makes the whole thing way easier, since you can set it to a temp and not overheat. I find that I can learn how many extra seconds I need if it’s early
I wouldn’t need the FMJ attachment for the cap then right since the wand does an equal applied heat correct?
I never needed the fmj to begin with (just rotate the tip), but I guess that’s right
This has been my daily driver for a while now. I have a Mighty, it rarely gets touched unless I have company.
I second this and would add that if you’re a frequent user than go for the OmniVap.
I have a couple OmbiVaps and the M+ I started with. I like the M+, especially if it’s on the go but most of my use is at home and the Omni is better overall.
I have two ispire wands, one next to the couch (this is the on the go one if I travel) and another down next to the bed. We like to watch tv in bed before sleeping so when we go I throw my OmniVap in the stash case and take it with me.
I’d also recommend Dose Caps. I have a bunch from VGoodieZ. I fill a bunch at once and keep them in a tin for quick and easy reload.
I have no idea why you were downvoted for this, I love my omnivap and it’s a genuine upgrade.
you really can’t beat mighty+, i’ve been using mighty/crafty exclusively for about 8 years and im constantly disappointed by every other dry flower vape i’ve ever tried in comparison
Coming to say this. I have tried dozens or more dry herb vapes. My Mighty+ still takes the top spot.
Arizer. Solid Canadian company, they’ve been making vaporizers for two decades, and they have a wide selection of different types.
My (original) Arizer Air has gotten more use than I’m willing to admit over the past 5 years, and while it’s starting to show its age, but still working without a hitch. If it gave out tomorrow, I’d go order the new Air (2? Max? not certain) with USB-C charging and a digital display, although neither of those features are essential!
I bought a Solo 2 just last week and have been very impressed. Great battery life, great performance, looks good, and easy to use. Seems to be built like a tank, too. Very solid. I’d recommend based on my limited experience with it.
This post got me looking at their offerings again, and it looks like they have a $100 Air SE–if it’s the same ceramic heater design I’d say it’s well worth it

I recently purchased a POTV Xmax pro V3 and quite like it. it has a replaceable battery, an 18650, can charge with USB C. easy temperature control, heats up in about a minute. the chamber and battery both have magnetic attachments so it’s easy to change weed or battery, they could be stronger but haven’t fallen off during normal use for me. I paid less than 100 USD and think it’s worth what I payed.
+1 for Xmax but my recommendation would be the starry v4.
I got a few emails from them promoting the Lobo that peaked my interest. I really like the form factor of that over the max. Are they similar in function?
What kind of user would you consider yourself? Do you prefer longer sessions or quick extractions?
Portables have come a long way and there are multiple types of heating methodology. Some are faster or slower than others but offer smoother hits or larger chambers, etc.

Definitely smoother hits. Most of the time I just use it once a day before bed and would rather it be a calming experience instead of something high temp.
Is portability a requirement or do you only plan on using it at home?
Portable would be best or something that was pretty small. Currently we don’t have a lot of space available. Something that could be kept in an end table drawer and easy to set up/ put away
It sounds like you could use just about any modern portable and be satisfied.
I see you mentioned POTV devices in some other replies. Those are generally known to punch above their price point, offering excellent price to performance options. The Lobo is basically a value priced Crafty/Mighty+, with some options that even the name brand doesn’t offer, like swappable batteries. I think you’d be quite happy with one.
If you’d rather go for more “premium” options the Crafty+ would also be a great choice, but some people find S&B heating to cause a tickle in the throat (the “Bickel tickle”) they don’t like. The Firewood and Angus lines are also well regarded and widely used.
I know a lot of some people are chiming in and saying Arizer. I’ve had a Airizer Max for over 6 months now. It is without a doubt the worst vape I own. The airway path is constantly feeling like it’s plugged with or without the screen. The glass chamber is hellish to keep clean which is another tick against it. It’s like fighting a clogged pipe every time I try to take a drag compared to any other vape I’ve used.
My very first vape was a Healthy Rips Edge and besides it’s small chamber it was an excellent piece of kit and unless they’ve changed since the 5 years ago that I had it I’d have no problems recommending anything by Healthy Rips. I also had a Utillian 722, which got the job done but wasn’t very good for temperature adjustment it always seemed to be just on the edge of burning the herb no matter what temperature setting.
Since then I’ve had 2 S&B Mighty+. One of which started throwing errors after two plus years of use five times a day. Two emails with the Storz and Bickel warranty team and they sent me a brand new one in box no questions asked. That experience is what pushed me over the edge to try the Venty even though the damn thing was too expensive for my taste.
Just by coincidence my new Venty came today and I’ll be trying that out after dinner. I have a wide variety of vapes and if you’re willing to spend a little extra do yourself a favor and get a Storz and Bickel. They cost a little extra just starting out but they’re worth it in the long run. My suggestion is try to find some older stock Crafty if it’s something you’d like to try without dropping too big of a bundle.
I’ve had the same healthy rips edge for going on 5 years. Great piece, and I’m shocked the battery life is as good as it is this many years later.
I 2nd the sentiment that Arizer is garbage. Avoid at all costs.

Since you are used to a electronic dry herb vapes try out a dynavap and see if you like the torch/induction type vape. Its a completely different experience with its own ups and downs compared to an electronic vape. My first vape was the arizer air max and if you like the electronic vapes I recommend it, especially with the big stem with carb that sneaky Pete sells.
I have a Dynavap M that needs a new cap and was thinking of getting the IH wand soon. I just got an adapter for my bong this weekend and its better than I thought it would be.
Thats cool glad you having a good time with dyna + bong. My bong was getting a bit old and hard to clean around the top perc so I invested in a orb V2 along with the m+ thought the idea of using both dyna and arizer vape at once + a whip was just so cool blew my mind. I love the orb so much its perfect balance of form & function so easy to clean. By comparison sneaky petes Double Dragon looks like a hard time to keep clean (undeniably cool though)
I actually was just deciding on what IH to get. The wand was so tempting but I cant do 130$ for an IH. Fortunately I have an electrical background and am confident enough to just get a cheap 120W IH circuit board off amazon for 10$ and a cigarette plug to bare wire connection for 7$ and just plug it in to my portable power bank. I would rather see if I can hack together something decent for 20$ and if I want to spend over a hundred bucks for a fancy preassembled one later down the line ill do that.
Yeah DIY seems to be the way to go when it comes to IH. I have a tad of soldering experience but it seems like there are a lot of kits that are solderless.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do :) That board I linked is also solderless from what I understand, the terminal connector with two clamps is for input dc power, the terminal connector with three clamps is for the coil. The two ends of the coil go on the two far ends leaving the middle one empty. In theory should just be able to screw in the coil in one side and pump 12v 10a to the other (hopefully!)
My favorite recommendation to beat the mighty without the price is the angus ruby edition. Lots of powerful upgrades since its inception.
At $170 full retail there’s nothing that comes close at the price point if you ask me!
I got a b0 ball vape two years ago and literally have never used any of my other vapes since. It will be my tool of choice likely until the day I die, and because of the materials and build quality it will likely outlast me anyways
