Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Ottawa, saying Ottawa could see up to 125 mm of rain. The Ottawa climate weather station recorded 75.9 mm of rain today.
At lunch today, I drove under the train track bridge on Merivale and stopped at the A&W by the Merivale Canadian Tire. Right after I got my food, it started hailing, so I waited for the hail to stop. I probably waited 5-10 minutes. Then I tried to head back, and when I approached the underpass, it was so flooded that cars were stuck in it. I went back to Hunt Club and tried to cross at Woodroffe, but it was even more flooded and also had cars stuck in the flood. I ended up taking Hunt Club all the way to the 416 to head north. Took me 35 minutes to get home in what should have been 5 minutes. It was absolutely insane how much rain we got in just a few minutes.
