I’ve arrived at my cousins place out west that I’m catsitting at for the next month. It’s one of those soulless rabbit warren new estates but the house itself is actually really nice (they supervised the build and did a lot of rectifications) Cat is fairly happy with her own company but still appreciates a human to dish out the wet food

Despite a second physio visit my neck and shoulders are still feeling awful. Flat out of money until i get paid tomorrow night, but on top of buying me groceries of my exact favourite brands and leaving the house in a very clean and cozy state, my cousin and partner have very generously left a $500 gift card. What a lovely feeling. Going to use that on a massage this weekend. I’m disgustingly exhausted …

For some reason the new new estates with 0 trees are just the fucking worst hey. I’m in a 2000’s estate and yeah look it’s not great, but at least they had the forethought to put in some feature trees.

To be fair it takes time for the trees to grow. But the endless colorbond monument and the tiny trees struggling because the developers didn’t give a shit, and the eaves just about touching each other…

I am appreciating the quietness though, I’ll say that much

That’s so nice of them to do that for you.

I hope the pain isn’t too bad. You didn’t pinch a nerve did you?

Rest well and hope you feel better soon Kitten!

No idea if I pinched a nerve. Honestly maybe I did but the physio keeps going on about stress and I’m like yeah I know that’s an issue but I think something specific has happened here

You can sort of hurt yourself from bunching and hunching up your shoulders for an extended time like I have done or leaning one to one side unnaturally.

I’ve done a pinched nerve twice. One time I stretched in bed and felt the twinge and intense pain. It’ll slowly get worse over time and you won’t be able to move much due to the pain as time goes on.

Needed strong anti inflammatory meds for both occasions.

Did you feel anything or remember anything like a sharp pain or twinge between all the pain came to be what it was?

:( great I guess I might have to deal with this for a while. Friend is taking me to a sauna room tomorrow, hopefully it helps. And yes, well spotted. She’s not allowed outside but it’s on her just in case she does a runner while the door’s open (or I can’t find where she’s hiding…) She’s not a fan. Clunky

Neck and shoulder pains are so horrible, ugh! Those rabbit warren estates are soulless at night. I grew up near one and I went to parties as a teen where I was actually grateful for hearing cold chisel. Keep us posted.

I won’t lie, I’m kind of glad to be away from the hustle and bustle and to sleep to the sound of total silence. That said, I can see how one becomes house bound here. There is nothing within walking distance and zero things to do.

No mood killer like nighttime bus mood killer. If inspectors are gonna keep checking buses, and if prices are this high, then they better be on damn time. A bus being late by three minutes can delay my getting home by forty minutes.

That’s not worth ten bucks a day.

EDIT: Yup, won’t be home until 11. Bus is that late. Fuck PTV.

Nope, but here’s a $300 fine, as well as treatment as if you’re a criminal, for not being able to afford a $10 daily fare for our fucked PT system

Don’t even need to be fined to be treated like a criminal by them.

I remember my last run in with them 20 years ago and it seems they haven’t done a thing to change their conduct all those years.

Every damn time, they surround me like I’m gonna do a runner. For God’s sake, I’m 70kg soaking wet, I’m neither a flight risk nor a violence one. Meanwhile the methhead up the back of a bus never gets a second look, even though he’s threatened four people today.

That’s because you’re less likely to hurt them and also be intimated by them at the same time and likely they get a power trip from intimidating people who can’t fight back.

Moment they see they can get hurt by someone erratic they go running away like cowards.

It’s fucking cold out there too! It feels like there’s no quality control of the service, only customer compliance. Did you pay for the shitty service? No? Then we won’t attack the shitty service, just you. Are you on a bus now or still waiting?

Finally on a bus, but fuck me that was a long (and cold) wait.

It really is shite, you’d think it’d be an easy fix too; each inspector costs 100k a year, drop them and the ticketing system and it’s quite likely it’d break even (also, y’know, it’s a public service. I already pay for it out of my taxes, why am I getting double-charged?)

It’s definitely insane how expensive buses are relative to the quality of service. I’ve relied on PT for most of my adult life but I won’t lie, I don’t miss it for the most part over here.

Melbourne CBD is utterly forgettable and a bit of a toilet at times, so it’s no wonder people don’t want to go back.

It’s much more enjoyable to enjoy that nice cup of coffee or whatever in the suburbs.

    I said what I said.

I’ve been smoked out of hiding and made to promise I’ll go into the office once a week and today was this week’s day. It’s semi enjoyable and a novelty in the morning but on the way home it’s horrid and I need a week to recover.

Ugh. For some reason you just reminded me of how I used to have to start an early breakfast shift around the time people were stumbling out of nightclubs and pissing in the laneways outside and trying to chat you up. Ugh.

On another note, why make people actually attend an office if there’s no need? I’m not an office worker… I’ve mostly had the kinds of jobs where you have to attend to specific machinery or equipment etc in a specific workplace. If you only need a workstation and internet connection then to my mind you can be anywhere. You can be in the fucking Bahamas and work. Why do they do this to people if it is unnecessary?

Oh gross, those were the days.

It’s especially pointless considering it’s an office of another company under our parent company (and I work for another in a different state) so going into the office has zero benefit to me as all of my staff and team aren’t there… and the staff there have no idea who I am so I might as well be invisible lol.

My kids are still young enough that the CBD is interesting, but I think they’re becoming wary of the people who approach and ask for money. It’s been really notable the last couple of times. We were even sitting just inside the front of a McDonald’s and someone entered far enough to ask me for money in front of the kids. The kids were unsettled by it. My oldest also noted that piss was a common aroma. We weren’t hanging out around the shitty parts of the CBD, it was an “in general” kind of thing.

Okay. I’ve talked through the key issues bothering me and there’s a bit more clarity. I’ve jotted down my thoughts and a bit of a plan on a page and I feel slightly calmer. I’m not sure what’s next but at least that’s something.

I browsed popular on reddit today and suddenly loads of them are rateme or amiugly etc… that were never in that feed full of incel neck beard reply’s. I like it here :)

Some of us remember when Reddit was a lot like this. Smaller, a bit more techie, lots more laid back than it is today.

I’m also a little scared that this will end up like Reddit. Not totally scared, because there’s no single company trying to maximise your engagement with rage bait and dopamine. But a little scared what 100 million users would bring.

Wow… you simply just cannot get a ticket for Oppenheimer at IMAX Melbourne in premium seating. Every single session online until August 14 is sold out of premium seating. Damn!

Edit OMG was IMAX always this expensive?? I don’t remember paying this much! lol they also have the utter audacity to add a $2 booking fee on top of that. Thieves.

Edit Edit I am not paying $45 to sit in any of the garbage edge or front seats which is all that is available for any session. Guess I’ll just go see it at my regular haunt, Docklands Hoyts XtremeScreen.

Somehow I’ve hurt my foot. Not in the “I’ve been working on my feet all day” way that’s familiar to me, but on top of the foot as though I dropped something heavy on it (except I didn’t). Just liberally sprayed with my go to pain relief spray and contemplating my dinner. Mr Peeler cooked shazlicks which were lovely but the chicken ones could’ve done with a little more cooking (I checked the kids ones and they were fine, just mine didn’t seem right). Pray for me!
