    This is a pretty dumb article (written by someone completely out of their element) that reduces a complex issue about social infrastructure (ie, # of doctors trained in Canada) not keeping pace with population needs (# of doctors needed in Canada) to a cherry-picked xenophobic talking point.

    The Canadians struggling to compete with the foreign doctors in the title are Canadians who didn’t go to med school in Canada, but went to med school in other countries, most likely because they weren’t competitive enough to get into med schools in Canada. 4 years later, when applying for residency, they’re unfortunately no more competitive than they were when they applied for med school.

    This is a medical education pipeline problem. As Canadians, we should indeed be focused on meeting our current and future healthcare needs. However, we need real problem-solving to ensure the vitality of our healthcare system, not rage bait
