I was a minor who barely just got into the internet when Gamergate was taking place; and besides, it seems to be primarily a western online phenomena, and I’m not a westerner, so idk how the hell it’s going to affect me, a Global Southerner.
Besides, I have better things to do than get deep into irrelevant online controversies. So yes, I did indeed “live under a rock for the past 10 years and miss shit like Gamergate”.
just because i play games doesn’t mean i label myself a gamer, nor do i actually know anyone who does. it seems like a highschool label drama that leaked out to the internet.
but somehow others take the liberty to lump me into some amorphous group of “bad people”? nah. that’s just silly shit.
there will always be people who latch onto labels to try to form an identity, but that doesn’t mean it applies to others who have things in common

There are people who play videogames, and there are g*mers. These are different things.

Yeah “gamer” and “gaming” feels really cringy these days.
I prefer Video Game Enthusiast/Enjoyer. Or something more mature-sounding.
