Not just “more realistic” (which I interpret as a general preference of art style, which yes, I’d agree is subjectively better) but I also like some of the other changes,
I do prefer the original “Be Prepared” but I like Smith’s “Friend Like Me” better, as an example. I do slightly prefer Williams’ bombastic Genie in the character portrayal, but not that song.
To me, art direction is the missing piece in both those songs, in opposite direction.
Ah yes, I remember how they improved the Lion King by draining all facial expressions and emotions out of the animation!

Because more realistic = better? They also don’t really talk, but that wouldn’t be an enjoyable movie would it?
