Taxes could be simplified pretty dramatically to the point where individual tax filings are close to automatic and don’t require third party companies. Taxes will always be a complex issue, but that definitely doesn’t mean we should accept that paying large for-profit tax preparation companies should be the norm for your average citizen. It certainly isn’t that way in some other highly developed countries.
