I had a buddy who did 4 years of service (air Force I think) and came back with hearing damage. Personally, I’d rather not risk that for no real reason.
Heard many people from the army come back with hearing damage from operating a mortar. Who would have guessed that large explosions right next to your head would damage your ears? Also they aren’t covering hearing damage in their benefits plans because it’s too expensive.
