Why do I feel like fate is telling us we need to fast-track Nwaneri’s transition into becoming a first team regular. Seems like with Odegaard now likely out until December, we will need a younger player to step up. And he’s the perfect candidate.
This reminds me of when Arteta had no other choice but to give ESR a run in the first team because of injuries. And Emile used that opportunity to not only stake a claim, but also to revitalize our flagging season. We’re playing well now, but still, this could really jump start Ethan’s development. Start him there in some of the easier fixtures and see how he does.
We also have Miles Lewis-Skelly available and keen to get a chance. Though I see him as more of a winger. Every time recently Nwaneri’s come on it’s been in that 10 slot.
There’s also potential concerns with Saka, Havertz and Partey. They may be fine, but it’s still a worrying sign.
It feels like we got fairly lucky with injuries last year. This year it appears that may not be the case. Maybe Timber took one for the team last year, lol.
The injury problem won’t go away and with the expansion of the euros, world cup and champions league it will only get worse. I mean Saka hasn’t really had a sustained break in as long as I can remember…
I see this expansion project all as a huge power grab where the bigger teams will horde all the players they can hold on to to have enough star reserves, to cover the almost guaranteed injuries. But maybe I’ll be wrong…
