In my college’s drama club parties, it was tradition that one of the officers of the club would drink a bottle. They would make up a different reason each time they did it as to how the tradition started.

It’s a useful ingredient for things like clam chowder. I don’t think anyone is suggesting to drink it straight like apple juice.

A splash of clam juice adds umami to a recipe and you don’t taste the clam. It’s in the same culinary category as fish sauce, but less potent.
