As a plumber, I can’t think of any shower drains that I’ve worked on being able to take something a half inch thick. Sure, I guess if you take off the overflow cover and go in through there lol.
Unscrew the bath part of the drain and the drain itself should be big enough for it (although probably tight with the 90° bend) otherwise the overflow drain is big enough for sure
