    Thank you for the illustration of how monstrous bigotry can be expressed using only civil language. reddit demonstrated that an overemphasis on civil language often resulted in an environment where “be civil” meant “don’t sass the nazis.” I hope lemmy remains better than reddit in this aspect.

      On Lemmy it’s entirely up to the moderators of any given instance or community. Some instances are fiercely anti-censorship. Some will have a more restrictive approach. We can always create new instances and communities, and vote with our engagement.

      Hooray for decentralization and federation.

        With a few notable exceptions, lemmy has been hostile to fascists and hasn’t fallen into the trap I described above. I hope it remains that way.
