Had a small discussion with a good beehaw community member in one community, it got contentious but otherwise civil, and they have now taken to taking that discussion out in response to comments I’ve made in other posts and communities.

I would consider this a form of harassment, following me around Lemmy and having a argument seems to hurt the overall discussion in other posts and communities with anger and abuse.

How do I get help in this matter?

Why wouldn’t blocking this person completely rid all of your problems? I definitely agree they’re an asshole and everybody that comes across this post might as well block them too.

Because in the communities I moderate I still need to be able to see their content. I could preemptively ban them, but that would not be very objective of me.

The initial issue is they were coming into a discussion about something, and telling everybody they shouldn’t like the thing, and the community is bad. They are upset they got pushback for that. They’re allowed to not like things, they’re allowed to express opinions about not liking things, but it’s about the context in the venue. Derailing discussions with hate is not a great way to run a community

Yeah I get that. I come across that issue from time to time lol. Ban + block maybe and they’ll get tired of talking to themselves at some point.

Edit: Sorry, skipped right over the not banning line. Could do a short expiration ban and they’d probably move on to another individual in that time frame. From what I see they’ll probably be on someone else here in the next few hours.
