There are MANY center-right communities in the fediverse where you are allowed (even encouraged) to defend things like genocide, imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, US-style “democracy,” and those who support them. This is not one of them.

      Sometimes I almost feel bad for some of these liberals because I think they truly lack the self awareness and perspective to know how atrocious their ideology is

      But then I remember all the people suffering, dying, being enslaved, deported, and incarcerated because of people like them, and I smash that ban button so hard

        modding comms is such a thankless job fr, like 99% of people are just completely fine people to deal with but occasionally you have some absolute freak just completely go off on you about something.

        like, I had some guy get mad at me for deleting a comment he made for excessive hostility towards someone and then temp banning him bcs i found him posting a transphobic slur on his account while vibe checking him, so he decided to spend the next week replying to accounts on the comm i was modding accusing them of all being sockpuppets of me, repeatedly report spamming misogynistic slurs, dming me to rant at me and stuff, and ban evading with half a dozen different accounts to tell me I “gave a bad name to all trans people” and then he did the exact same thing again like three months later on a different comm i mod in response to some article i posted about homophobic laws in kansas being passed, after that he got permanently banned from the entirety of blahaj by Ada i think.

          Yo, I saw that thing transpire! That guy was wild.

          My worst experience as a mod was on a fairly large gaming discord server. I saw things I never wanted to see, including incredibly inappropriate behavior toward minors. Eventually I had to stop doing that for my own well-being.

        A conservative is a wolf, you know to stay away and they know they’re a joke. Meanwhile Liberals are foxes, they’ll smile and laugh but come close and they’ll bite your neck.

      On a philosophical level, I’d like the same, but I’ve seen what happens in communities that allow certain groups to take over.

      Also, I personally live in a place where I’m constantly fighting for my existence, so I need a break from that fight to maintain my mental health, and I think a lot of others do too. For example, I know many people who’ve been oppressed by our nation. I feel like we all need a space to discuss without constantly having shit flung at us.
