Good for them! What a horribly wasteful policy. I hope this gets enough media attention that they’re forced to change it.
Given how ubiquitous this behavior is across multiple industries, I’m sure nothing will change. Grocery stores, cafes, retailers of all sorts regularly trash literal tons of product that could be donated, in the name of profit. There’s often also lip service to food safety, but that’s very rarely an actual legitimate reason.
Which is so weird because do they think people dumpster diving or shopping at food pantries are really cutting into their bottom line?
Like fr??
And if so, what the fuck is wrong with society (actually this applies either way, wtf, society???)???
We apologize for any inconvenience our customers experienced during the three hours the Mineral Point store was closed this past weekend. The store reopened at 11am on Saturday morning to serve the community.
How were they able to replace their entire staff within 3 hours?
Probably asking overworked people from other stores to fill in under threat of job loss.
I don’t get the impression people who work there are cared for at all, and just people desperate for work.
The DG in my area isn’t like that but there’s like just the one so that probably helps. They have to compete with other actual stores here.
Sad, I’d love to steal shit again. But I’ll have to travel for that.
A) maybe not all shifts quit? Like weekday shifts may have filled.
B) temp transfers from nearby stores. Those places are everywhere.
