With twitter locking down their platform it’s hard for those who don’t have an account there to view the original source for content.

Because of this I want to discourage the use of twitter as a source unless:

1. there is no other source for the image (I personally don’t count image aggregator sites like Danbooru/Gelbooru a source, but they can act as an alternative for the time being.
2. they open their platform to people without an account.

We have a guideline in the sidebar about sourcing and twitter in it’s current state does technically violate it. That said we will not be enforcing this guideline for twitter just yet in hope they will reverse this.

if you are posting twitter content we will encourage you to do the following:

• Check the artist’s DeviantArt/Pixiv/Fanbox (many artists post their work on these platforms too; they still count as a proper source)
• Check their Patreon/Ko-Fi/LiberaPay … (any post visible without an account/registration will still count)
• Check Danbooru and Gelbooru (while often not official, they can act as a substitute, PS you can use IQDB to quickly search those)

Again, we will still allow twitter links, but you are encouraged to provide an alternate source at the least.

PS: We will not be enforcing this ruling retroactively; any posts made before this one are considered fine.
