Noah was a drunk, Solomon was arrogant, and David murdered a man so he could take the man’s wife. The Lord often works through imperfect men to deliver his perfect message.

No ‘/s’ because that’s the horse manure they’ll try to sell you.

That’s one horror we can count on. Luckily I’m prepared - my TV has this button on its remote, called “OFF.” I’ve rediscovered the joy of reading, thanks in large part to America’s current political circus, and my supreme power to mute it and block it electronically.

That’s been something I’ve enjoyed and it’s recommended but while we check out of the BS, things that we took for granted or are the basic norms are lost in the process.

It’s crazy to think of the basic rights lost and the journey backwards in time to some promised land many are taking. Not sure what the answer is but it’s like how those right wing governments in South America conviced many not to vote as a protest, they win more when we don’t engage.

I’m left wondering if they want us with our silence and a lack of checking against the ugly rhetoric together emboldens many of these kooks with their crazy ideas?

It’s like the arguments against social media. Traditionally that crazy cousin or that weird uncle with their conspiracy theories doesn’t get the traction within their family units during Thanksgiving, or they struggle to connect to the rest of their minority within their local community, but with social media none of those checks exist anymore because they now get access to all of the crazy like minded people around the would creating one hell of a powerful echo chamber. Same for the stupid people too. They seem pretty smart to themselves when they are all together in the same room.

I wonder how long before we are back to the time when the US is trailing the Soviets and behind on winning the space race. There was an effort to change public policy to educate and transform society or at least move it further along. That race is long gone and it seems that its boiled down to little kingdoms of control inward.

Not engaging and not voting is a sure way to have all your rights taken away. But I’ve lived a long time, and I can assure everyone that there never was a “golden age” when everything was balanced and equitable and happy - this “journey backwards” is actually a journey into regressive darkness and repression, which nobody in their right mind would ever want to go back to.

The 50s was complete turmoil, the 60s was full of drug abuse and hate, the 70s were homophobic and spiteful and horrible, and I could say the same thing about every decade since then.

The answer then is glaringly obvious - we DON’T go backward to those sorts of times. We go forward and progress and rise above them. We embrace science and technology, we embrace liberal education, we embrace humanity and give up the in “god we trust” legacy of blindness. There is only one moral and healthy way to grow and that is by going forward into a new age of peace and progress.
