The pushback isn’t because he did it, people have known he has a habit of not paying his debts for a while now. The pushback is because now that he’s admitted it, the MAGAts will have to do another round of mental gymnastics to ignore it and pretend it’s totally normal.
They’ll just come up with an excuse for why those people didn’t actually deserve to be paid in the first place.
It was probably immigrants. No wait, he does not want those so he is not employing any, right?
