Imagine if they did the same thing and promoted Vance to their nominee. The incumbent VP and respected district attorney vs a right-wing project 2025 nutjob who was only chosen because he was younger than 80.

I wonder how many magabrained would sit out. They really do worship donnie like some kind of god. I wonder if they’d have the same love for JD. I somehow doubt it. The dumb brand that donnie created via that game show he was given did this country a lot of damage…I’m not sure quite so many would be lulled to a zombie state like that for JD, because really, who the fuck is jd? But rappers and so on thought donnie was rich and a badass and banging porn stars and busting into the dressing rooms of teenage pageants and grabbing all kinds of pussy, etc…and so did a whole lot of rubes. No one is rapping about JD.

Thanks for at least mentioning that there was in fact context to it.

I can’t enjoy that song anymore the way I used to but I don’t think Mac Miller should be held accountable for what Trump turned into. That song came out in 2011, Mac can’t be blamed for that. At that time Trump was just “a rich guy” and most people didn’t know much about him, he was just a recognizable name to rap about that was synonymous with money. Same as comparing yourself to Bill Gates or Mansa Musa.

Though I hear these days that Trump himself absolutely hates the song, I’m guessing for no other reason than because it’s rap music considering the song itself portrays him in a pretty generally good light, so I’ll still pull it out now and then for a listen for no other reason than because I know it would upset Trump that people like this song.

I have a little more energy now. Originally Trump loved it because it praised him. Then, Miller and Trump got into it before Trump threw his hat into the political ring because Trump was claiming he deserved royalties for use of his name. Then they played it at rallies and Miller said Trump was “an egomaniacal, attention-thirsty, psychopathic, power-hungry, delusional waste of skin and bones” during an interview.

Trump went back and forth between loving and hating it depending on how he felt on any particular day. I doubt he remembers it now.

Apart from stopping a likely second coup attempt, I would like us to continue the momentum to enact true positive change through a grassroots movement so large it’ll make old Bernie tear up.

This is what I’m most excited to see. Biden is a perfectly fine Democrat president but not a particularly great public speaker in terms of politicians. And the age certainly didn’t help. I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump decides he doesn’t want to debate like he did back in 2020.

Elites and almost everyone else wanted him out. Polls had 80% of democrats wanting him out.

Biden had an “emperor has no clothes” moment on live TV for 90 minutes. Everyone saw it. Everyone saw a man that didn’t have what it would take to beat Trump again.

Cut this “it’s what the elites wanted” shit. It just doesn’t comport with reality.

I’m so grateful Democratic leaders actually responded to organic pressures. It was close and almost cast off as “elitism,” but by golly they did it. I and many others made the case for this EXACT scenario — that Biden stepping down and endorsing Harris would steal all thunder from Trump’s past weeks of victories and attention. So far it’s playing out flawlessly.

Well done to all my fellow advocates who weathered bedwetter accusations or that we were playing Fantasy Football or watched too much West Wing lol.

Platform Main article: Political positions of Kamala Harris Domestic issues Abortion Harris supports national protections for abortion, which were reversed after Roe v. Wade (1973) was overturned by Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022). Under the Biden administration, she prominently campaigned for abortion rights.[20]

Climate change Harris is an advocate for environmental justice to address the impact of climate change on lower-income areas and people of color. Under Biden, she supported his climate legislation.[20]

Immigration As vice president, Harris invested US$950 million into Central American companies to address the causes of mass migration, such as poverty. She supported a proposed bill which would close the border if too crowded and fund border patrol agents. She believes the immigration system is “broken” and needs to be fixed, and she says most Americans believe this.[20]

Foreign policy NATO and Ukraine Harris is expected and has signaled to generally follow Biden’s foreign policy on NATO and Ukraine, supporting both in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[20][21]

Israel–Hamas war Harris is noted to have tougher positions on Israel than Biden. She supported Israel’s offensive against Hamas in the aftermath of its attack on Israel, but criticized it throughout the war because of the Gaza humanitarian crisis. She also has been noted to be more allied to progressive Democrats who oppose Israel.[20][21][22] Under the Biden administration, she called for a ceasefire and pushed for more humanitarian aid.[23] Reports have said she is more sympathetic to Palestinians than Biden, though it is disputed whether she would immediately change policy.[24][25]

China Like Biden’s administration officials, Harris has advocated for “de-risking” from Beijing, a policy that encourages reducing the economic dependence on China.[26] She also raises the issues of Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet, Taiwan, etc., just like any other Democrat government, with the intention of curbing China’s rising power both economically and militarily.[27] Chinese social media does not look favorably on her candidacy,[28] and is more familiar with other candidates, such as Antony Blinken.[29] Chinese public opinion believes that she will lose to Trump.[29]

just because Trump is a felon does not mean we need a prosecutor

lol what the fresh hell is this take. This has to be the first attempt at this weird rhetoric. Does that mean we need the felon?

has anyone here had to deal with a prosecutor firsthand before?

Actually yeah, I got a ticket for running a red light in a weird non-permanent construction detour thing. I hadn’t expected the light to be there since it was on a highway and was part of an unusual u-turn. The cop was sympathetic and told me to go to the court to fight it, and there the prosecutor dropped the charge. I have seen that same court successfully prosecute traffic tickets even without officer testimony, so I was quite pleased.

Honestly even with how corrupt the justice system can be, I’m not sure you’re gonna find many people who have personally had bad experiences with a prosecutor, much less rational people who would choose someone convicted of 34 felonies over a prosecutor.

I heard this in some particularly leftist areas of the internet back in 2020 when Biden tapped her for VP. It’s not good, that’s for sure.

Some people even dug deep into her case record and found some really old cases they didn’t like. It’s just an attempt to keep the flames going against the DNC.

Harris is probably going to be the best candidate the DNC has nominated since 2008. I am personally thrilled.

Yeah in 2020 I didn’t like “Top Cop” Kamala Harris because that’s literally how she was marketing herself! I think 4 years in the VP seat have given her a lot of valuable experience with the job and I’m willing to be swayed by arguments that she’s moved leftward and softened on some of her policies regarding incarceration and crime. Sometimes seeing how the sausage is made, then getting some distance and perspective on things, can cause a person to turn their views around.

Anyway, at this point I’d much rather engage with the Top Cop prosecutor who at least seems to believe in the idea of law and society, over “Day One Dictator” Drowsy Donnie.

I’m hoping she’ll come out with a sharply different stance on the Gaza genocide, because Biden’s stance is straight up destroying the enthusiasm of the Arab American community in terms of getting their vote. They were a big part of why a bunch of states in the Midwest went for Biden, and his stance on Palestine is a very pointed kick in the teeth.
