You mean they just happen to have to do what they wanted to and planned to do anyway? Wow! That’s so convenient for them.

So their reasoning is the roof is in bad shape and if there were potential heavy snowfall it could cave in…in june. They can’t wait until October? Just shut it down now thus preventing tourists and families going during the summer months when it’s arguably the most busy?

What’s the City of Toronto going to do since, you know, they lease the land to the province? debate it next week. Which is all this mayor and city council is good for these days, they like the sound of their own voices.

The government is willing to give the beer store $225 million instead of giving $40 million to fix the roof of the science centre. Just far right governments with their mixed up priorities.

      It’s worse than that

The Ontario government is willing to have the tax payer cover 10% the cost on all alcohol sold outside the LCBO so companies can compete with it

I absolutely do not want my tax dollars going to promote alcohol competition. That is absolutely ridiculous. Wasn’t the whole point to make alcohol easier to access?

The bottle of pop at the gas station is easier to access, all the snacks and drinks there are twice the price as the grocer. Why do we need a different attitude towards alcohol?

I’m sad that even among leftist observers there was very little debate over whether “making alcohol easier to access” was a terrible idea to begin with.

They understand beer. They don’t understand science. They don’t particularly like people who do.

“Ontario’s auditor general said in December that “deferred maintenance projects that were at risk of critical failure have been repeatedly denied funding” at the science centre, including 42 such project since 2017, the year before the Ford government took power.”

What a weird way to talk about the lack of funding as it relates to the government. So the 42 started the year before Ford’s government took power. How many were before that? The way it’s worded, it could be 1 of the 42 or up to 41 of the 42.

This makes me so sad. This was one of my favourite places growing up. Lots of good memories.

Glad I got to see it one last time this past year… many memories and a lot of the exhibits I remembered from before are still there.
