I share my SK40 for espresso (usually morning) and aeropress (usually afternoon), and have definitely left it set for the wrong thing occasionally.
The aeropress is a little stiff to press if you put espresso grind in it, the product is usually fine. The underextraced 10ish second espresso shot is a lot more disappointing.
I’ve noticed that the AeroPress is actually very forgiving when it comes to particle size. If you’re using about 60 g/l, there’s only one way to screw it up, and that is by grinding to coarse. In that case the water will just run through the bed under a minute and your coffee ends up being too dilute. Fortunately, there are a few ways to fix that, so the game isn’t entirely over at that point.
Grinding too fine isn’t really a problem either, since you can always just press the water through the bed even if the filter is completely clogged up. It’s just going to take a bit longer to do so. Your coffee might not be ideal, but at least it will be drinkable.
